26 October 2010 To Whom It May Concern Dear Tow Operator and Associations, Santam Request for Proposal 2011
It has come to Santam’s attention that there are current rumours in the market place of imminent changes to our Towing business partner relationships. As our business partner you are all aware that we reassess our business relationships periodically and this is done with due consultation with all our business partners in order to strengthen our relationships. We have recently started exploratory discussions with a number of interested parties. For the record, Santam’s process in terms of re-negotiating agreements and awarding of new agreements follows an objective selection methodology. Here we would first issue a towing Request for Proposal to the market place. Once proposals are received Santam would then assess the proposals objectively. The assessment measures each proposal based on quality, service, social implications and the commercial aspects being offered. This results in proposals that are acceptable to both Santam and our business partners and the drafting of non – exclusive national and/or regional Towing agreements in relation to the accepted proposals. These agreement/s are finalised through negotiation. This means that once new agreements have been signed, they will replace any existing agreements. In closing, we confirm that we will ensure a fair and equal opportunity for all suppliers and associations within the towing industry, and we will constantly strive for a win/win relationship for all. Yours sincerely Garth Gibson Manager: Procurement (Claims)
