Road Traffic Legislation Update – 24 February 2011   Ø The Department has circulated a regulation amendment (Amendment 21) to the National Road Traffic Regulations for comment. It contains amendments on the haulage tractor legislation as well as proposed legislation on consignors and consignees of goods. It has not yet been published in the Government Gazette, but if you are interested in the proposed amendment, it is available on our website (www.altaswanepoel.co.za, at the bottom of Home page). Please send your comments directly to the Department of Transport.   Ø Arcus Gibb is busy with a feasibility study on a logistics hub for the West Rand in Gauteng and has requested interested parties to answer a short questionnaire on the possible uses for such logistics hub. If you are interested please have a look at the questionnaire on our website (www.altaswanepoel.co.za, at the bottom of the Home page) and send your answers to Arcus Gibb (mppretorius@gibb.co.za)   Ø Our next In-house AARTO workshop is on 15 March 2011 in Waverley, Pretoria. The Workshop is ±3 hours, R1 250 per person (Course documentation will be supplied). This year we will, as always, address the legislation on road traffic and transport that have been amended during the past year. We will also address the role of the National Regulator of Compulsory Standards, the homologation process and the unification of standards in SADC, the developments in the transportation of dangerous goods and the road transport costs in the industry.
