No. 33581 GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 23 SEPTEMBER 2010 GENERAL NOTICE NOTICE 917 OF 2010 DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY NOTICE TO DEFER THE GENERAL EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT, 2008 (No.68 of 2008) In terms of item 2(3) (b) (a) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (No. 68 of 2008) ("the Acf'). the Minister of Trade and Industry may, by notice published in the Gazette at least 20 business days before the 24th of October 2010 defer the general effective date of the Act for a period of not more than six additional months, on the ground that additional time is required for adequate preparation of the administrative systems necessary to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of that provision. I, Rob Davies. the Minister of Trade and Industry hereby defer the general effective date of the Act until 31 March 2011.
